Sanctuaries: 17 shrine puzzles

Every Sanctum hiding a puzzle, what solving it unlocks, and how to approach each puzzle family.

Each of Idyll's 17 regions hides a Sanctuary — a shrine built around a self-contained puzzle. Sanctuaries are the spine of exploration: clearing them rewards eggs, cosmetics and region progress, and several gate fast-travel convenience for everything around them.

How Sanctuaries work

A Sanctuary presents a themed puzzle — light redirection, element locks, timing challenges or traversal routes — inside a small enclosed space. Solve it and the shrine releases its reward and (often) marks the surrounding area on your map. There's no combat inside, so enter with any squad.

The puzzle families

  • Light puzzles — route a beam through mirrors and lenses to a receptor.
  • Element locks — present or attack the lock with the matching element; carry a squad that can produce it.
  • Timing challenges — hit switches in sequence or within a window.
  • Traversal puzzles — reach the inner chamber using climb, glide and swim; some need Lumens travel upgrades first.

What Sanctuaries reward

  • Eggs, including some with better-than-wild potential.
  • Cosmetics and shrine-themed decor for your RV.
  • Region progress — several Sanctuaries unlock adjacent areas or travel conveniences.

Practical tips

  • Check the region page first: every Sanctum is listed among its region's points of interest.
  • If a puzzle needs an element you lack, note it and come back — squad slots are cheap to re-plan.
  • Some Sanctuaries sit behind Swim or glide gates; don't force them before the matching Lumens upgrade.
