Lumens: 200+ collectibles
Tiny lights hidden across Idyll that you trade in for permanent travel upgrades.
Lumens are the tiny collectible lights scattered across every region of Idyll — more than 200 in total. Returning them to their shrine is the only source of permanent travel upgrades, which makes them the single best long-term investment of exploration time in the game.
What they unlock
Returning Lumens to their shrine grants swimming speed, gliding and climbing endurance bonuses that unlock more of the map and more species. Several regions — like Coconut Shore — explicitly gate full exploration behind a Swim upgrade, and some Sanctuaries and Bloom Branches assume glide or climb tiers you only get from Lumens.
Where Lumens hide
- Around every Bloom Branch — towers often reveal nearby Lumen treasures when they bloom.
- Off the main paths: ledges, caves and water crossings that normal travel skips.
- Behind Sanctuaries — several puzzle chambers hold bonus pickups.
An efficient farming loop
- Bloom a region's tower first, then sweep the revealed radius for exposed Lumens.
- Pair Lumen sweeps with other goals in the same region — spawns, resources, the Sanctum — one trip, three payoffs.
- Watch for locked Lumens: some sit behind upgrade gates. Note them for a later pass instead of forcing.
Why prioritise them early
Travel upgrades compound: every point of climb endurance and swim speed makes the next region's collectibles cheaper to reach. Players who front-load Lumens consistently out-explore those who treat them as endgame busywork.
